The heat index today was 98-degrees, though the actual temperature was only 88 or 89 degrees. We had to give all the bunnies frozen water bottles for the first time this year. I'll have to do it again tomorrow as the temperature is supposed to reach 93-degrees (plus heat index). I'm afraid it may "feel like" a triple-digit number, in which case, I may lose rabbits to heat stroke for the first time ever. They're outside, so they get some breeze, and they're all in shade, but I don't have a misting system or fans or anything for them. And worse yet, tomorrow I'll be out at my parents' house all day. I plan to put the frozen water bottles in the cages before I leave (around noon) and possibly make a run back home after dinner to switch them out again before heading back to my parents' house.
The big family reunion is this weekend and we have one relative coming from out of state to join us for the first time ever (adopted as a child, I was able to track her down and we will be meeting her tomorrow night for the first time in person).
In other news, that chicken we ate yesterday became soup tonight. I added in the last of the potatoes, carrots, and beans, two more of the zucchini, an onion, and some fresh herbs (lavender, sage, and lemon thyme) from my own garden. Then we had the broccoli (which had four caterpillars in it - all were released in the bushes outside) with ranch dressing, and the last of the cucumbers sliced up in Italian dressing. It was a good dinner. We only have one onion, two zucchini, and two bell peppers left from our Farmers Market run two days ago (plus a bar of soap, a jar of honey, and now a partial jar of berry jelly).
