They actually got all the main part done. Both levels, everywhere you walk, it's all assembled. Tomorrow they need to work on getting the stairs and the railings up. Then it's just a matter of staining it all! I'm impressed with how fast it's coming together. If they work as hard tomorrow as they did today (and the weather cooperates - which it may not), they may have the deck done by the end of the long weekend! Not bad!
We spent most of today out at my parents house. They're building a new deck and had plenty of help. I admit, I didn't do much. I helped prep some food, but mostly I just chatted with other people. I did find a neat piece of wood that had been cast aside, and decided to go find some sandpaper and sand down the edges. It'll make a neat coaster after it dries out and I can seal it. I didn't take a photo of it. I plan to go back again tomorrow, so I'll try to snap one then. I did manage to get my aloe vera plant repotted. It started out a year ago as a single little fan piece, and grew into a huge monster dwarfing the gallon milk jug it was in. When we moved it to the hotel, it suddenly wilted. I don't know if it was the temperature, or the change from a lamp to sunlight, or what, but the whole plant started failing. Today I repotted it into four containers. I used the same succulent soil that had the plant growing by leaps and bounds. I only water it every few months (seriously, this plant is neglected) and it's been in the basement with a lamp on the timer with the turtle tank, so it was getting 12 hours a day of light. It's going to have to be ok with the light it gets in the window now. Anyway, above is a photo of the newly repotted aloe plants on the edge of the half-built deck.
