Because these water bottles are much smaller than the other containers I've been winter sowing, I tried to sow very modestly. There are only two tomatillo seeds per container. Tomatillos need at least two plants to pollinate and make fruit. I will be planting some tomatillo seeds in larger containers as well to assure I have enough of each to actually get some fruit.
The yellow daylily, white poppy, red/pink poppy, and lupine were all locally collected seeds. Some from a swap meet, and some harvested from plants I came across, so no color or variety is known. The Drama Queen Poppy seeds I bought on eBay, so who knows if they'll be the right ones (here's hoping). The hosta seeds I just got from Listia. They come from a solid green plant with purple flowers. While hostas vary from the parents, I'm told the green ones rarely (if ever) throw anything but green seedlings. Oh well, I'll just be happy to have some shade-loving hostas! The columbine seeds were from a trade, and the raspberry seeds came from some particularly tasty berries we bought locally.
