All the breeding commotion brought Loosey (the local stray rabbit) running through the barn and going from cage to cage to see what everyone was up to. After a year of trying, I made a mad grab for him while he was distracted watching another rabbit and managed to catch him! He was not happy about it at all, and he did a fair amount of flailing, but he made no effort to scratch me or bite me, despite having the opportunity. I put him in a spare cage temporarily (which he was even less thrilled about), gave him some water and food, and told him he'd be on a nice adventure tomorrow. This is great timing since we're going out to my parents' house again tomorrow, so we can bring him over and release him there.
I had planned to offer him instead of Bennett to the lady who is supposed to be buying Bennett tomorrow (she was supposed to call me today, but didn't). I guess that's a sign. Loosey will be set free out at my parents' house. He has survived wild in our neighborhood for a year, largely by living in our bunny barn and eating the food scraps our bunnies drop. I've been worried about him and how he will get by if we weren't able to catch him before we moved. Now I know he'll be alright - as long as he stays out of the dog kennel - at my parents' house. He's certainly not happy about being locked in a cage at the moment.
