New seeds that came this week include a fresh batch of Lolla Rosa lettuce (the seeds I had from an earlier trade had 0% germination this year), Calypso beans (Thank you Danielle for re-stocking my stash), and Virginia Gold tobacco (a local guy grows this variety so I know it can be successfully grown here).
The tobacco seeds were a little bit of a fiasco. I got them pretty cheap on eBay ($2.10 with postage), but when the package arrived it was postage due for an additional $2.15! I had to go to the post office to pay the extra and pick it up in person. And when I emailed the seller to let him know, he wrote me a rambling rant about him selling something else and having to refund someone so he can't afford to pay the extra postage. Very frustrating to say the least. My seed cost more than doubled. I know it's not a lot of money, but it's no fun to get a postage due package when you already paid for it!
I'm excitedly awaiting the return of the big trade package. Fewer people participated than initially anticipated, so some of my 2015 Tomato Mix seeds are being returned . I'm happy that it means every participant should get some seeds from me, but I wish there was better participation. These trades are a lot of fun, and they get funner with more participants. It should still be a pretty god swap as it sounds like there are about 25 participants. I'm excited to see what comes back in my package. I'll update the seed stash and blog about it of course.
Today I had my much anticipated doctor appointment. No answers yet, but I do have follow up appointments for an ultrasound, physical therapy, and meeting with a new primary care provider next month. At least it feels like there's some hope, even if we're really just ruling things out at this point because nobody is really sure what's going on. I have been doing better overall. Only one really bad pain attack this month, though I've been on constant acetaminophen and ibuprofen doses every 3 hours around the clock. Lack of sleep is catching up to me, but I feel better. Today I actually didn't take any pills until about 7pm when I started to have some 5-6 (on a scale of 1-10) pain. It took an hour for it to kick in, but I feel much better now. I'm going to try really hard to take fewer pills. I'm really worried about my liver and kidney's being damaged from too many pills.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I hope everyone is going to stay warm and have a tasty meal with loved ones. Stay safe on the busy roads if you have to travel, and enjoy the company of your family and friends.
