Tony and I spent several hours over at the house today. I fed and watered the bunnies, and double checked genders on the two younger litters, took some updated photos of them, checked my winter sown containers, watered them, and then put on the breathing mask to go into the basement to take photos for the insurance. Tony cleaned out the cat cage, re-did the litter, gave the cats food and water, then mowed the lawn and joined me in the basement. I took tons of photos. It should keep me plenty busy uploading photos and details to the insurance website.
We got some answers on why it's taking so long. I guess the landlord's insurance is refusing to pay saying it's the city's fault for the septic backing up. The city says they won't pay unless they get a letter from the insurance saying they refuse to pay... So our landlord (Tony's dad) has been jumping through hoops with the insurance company to get a denial letter to bring to the city. He got the denial letter late Friday evening but when he called the city, the guy he needed to talk to was already out for the weekend. So maybe we will see some progress this week?
The mortgage folks informed us last week on Monday that our insurance quote was too high and bumped us out of the debt to income ratio required to qualify for a mortgage. Tony spent Tuesday dealing with the insurance to work out a lower rate. He re-submitted the insurance quote with the new lower number to the mortgage folks but never heard back. Now we're supposed to have had all paperwork ready and submitted by last Friday, and we're supposed to sign this Friday (five days from now), and we're not sure if the insurance quote is low enough or if we're going to have to do last minute shopping for a new insurance company. We've always had this company, and they discount for having home and car insurance, so going with someone else for home insurance will make our car insurance go up. I'm beginning to understand why the sellers' real estate agent said he didn't like working with buyers using Quicken Loans! Talk about leaving everything to the last minute!
