Last week I finished slaughtering all of the remaining symptomatic bunnies in the quarantine cages. Those that were not sneezing, but still had yellow around their nostrils. All were eating and drinking normally, active, bright eyed, but remained what I consider to be "too sick" to re-join the general population. As you may be able to tell from the photo below, most of them were much smaller than they should have been, despite eating the same amount as their healthy counterparts. They've had plenty of time to recoup. Several of the bunnies that showed symptoms before have improved to being completely non-symptomatic now. I believe there is still one bunny left with yellowing around the nostrils, but besides him, our barn is completely symptom-free.
Today I got to use the new shrink-wrap bags we bought on Amazon (link below). Eight bunnies, neatly packaged up, ready for eight future meals, all tucked away in the freezer. These bags were really nice. Just put the bunny (or chicken if that's what you're bagging up) into the bag, then dip it into boiling water for three seconds. Zip tie shut. Let them cool, and put them in the freezer.
