I did a little happy dance when I woke up this morning to find that the lettuce seeds had sprouted up from the soil. That's 100% germination within four days! I wanted to give them the best chance, so I set up the shelf and light I used last spring to start seedlings and set this one lonely pot there.
I grabbed the spray bottle that was sitting on the shelf and gave one squirt before realizing it wasn't water... it was vinegar (that we use for cleaning). Well darn. I hope it wasn't enough to kill the lettuce! I sprayed it gently with water and checked back about an hour later. All three seedlings had turned toward the light (which is on the side) and are ever so slightly taller. So exciting!
