End of day update, the power is out for "thousands" of people across the state tonight as repair crews are not able to get passed unplowed roads. For the first time in 26 years, the power company pulled their workers for the night and will resume repairs tomorrow. Thankfully we still have power, but one outage during the blizzard knocked out power to a section of town just 6-8 blocks down the road! By bedtime tow trucks were reportedly running at 6-8 hour delays or not at all, police and ambulances were getting stuck and in at least one case abandoned on the side of the road as there were no tow trucks available. The official total for snowfall is 10 inches, but due to blowing and drifting, it looks like a lot more than that. Just as the snow stopped falling, an auto parts shop in the next town went up in flames, challenging our local firefighters through unplowed roads, lack of water, crazy wind whipping up the flames, and delays getting help from other cities due to the blizzard. Tony did make it home, but he had to shovel the road in front of our house to be able to park. The kids enjoyed helping.
