Today I put up the new Mason Bee House out behind the bunny barn. I hope the bees find it and make good use of it.
We now have five chicks in the hatching incubator. I will be moving them to the brooder tomorrow once the last one is dry and fluffy. They are available for sale right now.
We stopped by Menards and picked up two more plastic boxes to make more brooders for the chicks coming next month. We picked out some new flowers... A couple columbine, some interesting daisy variety, a couple marigolds, snapdragons, and some pointed flower that #5 found and wanted. I'm not even sure where to put them, but I'm sure I'll find somewhere to plant them. No vegetables out yet. I'm sure they'll be coming to store shelves soon enough.
While doing barn chores I spotted a baby in the colony enclosure. It lokked to be about three weeks old. Cute little thing. Momma bunnies re-opened their tunnels and the little guy went back below the ground. I have no way of knowing how many are down there or their exact age. They've got quite the burrow system going and nobody can reach them without digging everything up. I guess we will just wait for them to have to come up to eat the pellet food and catch them when they look old enough, or when the momma bunnies start pulling more fur for their next litters.
