Another day out at my parents' house, watching the guys (my uncles, a cousin, a family friend, Tony and #2 (sometimes #5 too), and one of my uncle's buddies) build the deck. They had to build between rain showers, but they still got the three sets of steps and all the main railings up before 5pm! The deck building party is over. All that's left to do is put in the railing for the stairs, put in the lattice underneath to keep critters out from under the deck, and to cut an access door so they can get to the hose spigot on the side of the house. Then they have to fix the dog kennel fence to put it back where it belongs. It got moved to accommodate the construction of the deck. Not much really compared to the massive group effort that went into building this deck in two days. As they were all cleaning up the building mess a storm was rolling in. I took a walk around the yard, as I often do when I need some quiet time, and as I came back around I snapped this photo. I especially love this picture because I was just trying to get a deck picture, but I accidentally caught a lot of people in it. All three of my uncles, my cousin, my aunt, my mom, and my husband are all in this photo - and none of them know it. The deck looks wonderful, and I'm sure my parents will love it. There are sure to be many gatherings hosted on this new deck.
