I suspect Mabel may be pregnant. She was in heat the first part of January, so it's possible. She doesn't come in to heat as often as most cats, and has refused Henry's advances before. For right now it's just a matter of waiting. She is showing a bit of belly, which is unusual as she normally has a very slender build. She is also sleeping a lot more than normal, which was something she did last time she was expecting. I will post updates if she continues to get rounder.
After the heartbreak of her first litter, we are going to be much more vigilant and unafraid to jump in and supplement feed or straight out remove her kittens and hand-raise them if anything comes up. I should still have a bottle stored away in the kitchen somewhere from last June, and I now know where to find canned goat's milk, so we can get a jump on it if needed. If she is pregnant, we should expect kittens in mid to late March.
