There was some fur in Caduci Mook's cage today. It looks like she's just molting, but that's what it looked like last time just before she had babies. I hope she has them in the nest box this time. I did pull some of the loose fur off the cage bottom and put it into the nest box (which had no fur in it, just the straw) to give her a bit of a nudge in the right direction. I guess we will see tomorrow.
Tomorrow morning is #2's day at the dentist to get that bad tooth pulled. Good timing too because he just ran out of antibiotics tonight (last dose to be taken at bedtime). We picked up a skein of yarn and a set of knitting needles to keep him busy while he recuperates. I anticipate he should be right back to school work by Friday if not tomorrow evening.
Today's coloring page was vegetable themed. I figure if I can't plant them or grow them for now, I can color them.
It's going to be a lot of work getting new gardens in place at the new house with such a short timeframe, but we'll make it work somehow. It might not be the big Back To Eden style garden I've been dreaming of, but it'll be something small and functional. I'm disappointed that more of my winter sown containers aren't up. But then again, with a night in the 30's in the forecast, I suspect it may just be too early to call the empty jugs duds yet. The dill is at the top of the container, ready to stick out the top, and the German Thyme is doing very well too. The cauliflower is already looking leggy, but the fruit tree seedlings are looking strong. I'm excited to transplant them into pots to let them continue to grow once it's warmer out.
I'm admittedly disappointed that the grapes and plums have not come up. None of my berries came up either. I may have to engage in trades to get live plants instead of relying on seeds for some of them. Blueberries and blackberries and elderberries and grapes and hops and plum trees... Perhaps these will be things we have to add in gradually over the years as we have money to buy them from a greenhouse or specialty ordering place or something. They'll eventually be added to the collection one way or another.
I will still have plenty of plants and seeds to keep me busy all summer. I will only be limited by my ability to prepare beds for all of my goodies.
