I have a few more varieties coming in the mail yet, but I think this is a pretty good start. I should have just about every color and size, and a nice variety of flavors to test out if I can manage to keep the plants alive long enough for them to produce.
I had to throw away the lentils. They never did sprout, but they were starting to smell like they were fermenting. I think my lentils were just too old. They'd been in my cupboard for over five years. Nice learning experience. I'm glad we didn't plant any of them. If the fancy strikes me, I may buy another bag of lentils next time I happen by them at the grocery store to try again with fresher lentils. I'm not sure if I want to grow lentils or not. I may have my hands full with the garden plans already.
The kids want to grow everything they need to make their own pickles, salsa, and spinach and artichoke dip. I love that they're already setting planting goals! #2 has specifically requested that we grow peanuts - so I will have to look in to that as well.
