Elsa has more fur in her nest box, but no babies yet.
This afternoon #4 ate the last apple and discovered a sprouted seed inside. Wonderful! I had planned to stick it in a little pot of dirt under the grow light, but she set it on the table and when the table got cleared for dinner, the seed disappeared. We did manage to collect 19 new apple seeds over the last week. I plan to put them into the seed collection. I think it may be too late in the season for it to get enough cold time to sprout properly. Or maybe if the one seed in the one apple sprouted the other seeds from the apples in the same bag would be viable too? Who knows.
Tony has been playing phone tag with the local bank loan officer since last week, and finally spoke to her. He signed the paperwork he needed to today, but no word on when we will hear anything back. He seems to think it will take several days to over a week. So much for figuring things out this week.
It's not looking promising for the house at this point. Outside of wanting my kids to be healthy and well adjusted, I haven't wanted something this bad in a very long time. This loss will be an especially hard one for me if things don't line up. And honestly, as much as I love this house and the property is absolutely perfect for us and our plans for an educational farm... I doubt the sellers will accept an offer for $15,000 less than the asking price - which is what our first bank has approved us for. Despite posting a fundraiser on generosity and sharing it here and on our Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter, apparently we're not popular enough to have the reach to garner donations. It's sad considering a guy on YouTube just made something like $100,000 in donations so he could travel around the US on a bus... And here we want to do something really amazing, to help our community, increase knowledge of homesteading, and share our experiences with the world via YouTube, but because we don't have thousands of followers, we don't stand a chance at getting the donations we need to make it a reality. It's really depressing actually. I hate that everything always seems to come down to money and popularity. If you're not incredibly popular, or know the right popular people, or have tons on money or know people with expendable incomes - you don't have any chance with fundraisers. This is a really great idea, and it's going to crash and burn because we live in a society dominated by who has the most money or the most followers. :(
I'm going to keep trying to promote the fundraiser while we work with this second bank. Please blog, repost, and share the campaign! We're in the crunch time now, and we need these donations. We even have rewards set up for donors!!
