Yesterday I planted the three kinds of garlic we got from SeedsNow. Nootka Rose is on the North end, Silver Rose is in the middle, and Early Purple Italian on the South end. They're all planted in a row under the window there on the right of the photo below. They're tucked in under the mulch for winter. This is our first attempt at garlic outside over winter. Hoping it's not too late!
Then we planted Queen Of The Night (black) tulips and Swan Wings (fringed white) tulips on the left of the gate, and a mix of Friendship (yellow) and Apeldoorn (red) tulips and the five spare black and white ones that didn't fit in the other side over on the right side of the gate. These are outside of the fence, so I'm really hoping the birds will leave them alone. I will be pretty upset if they devour my black and white tulips especially.
Skittles is in a cage in the colony building. He's been in there for a few days now. I'm not sure how long he needs to be in with the does before they accept him and won't beat him up for territory disputes. He's still a lot smaller than the does, but he's bigger than the babies. I'll give it probably another week before I set him loose and keep an eye on him for a day. This is the first time I've introduced a new buck to the colony. We had Kin in there for a year and he fathered a lot of litters. I'm hoping that Skittles can add some color in there. He's a broken tricolor out of harlequin and meat breed lines.
In just a random note, I'm interested in getting a Wolf River apple tree if anyone knows somewhere local that has them next spring.
