The weekend was busy. I didn't have a lot of time to do anything I particularly wanted to do, but it was nice to be out of the house for a while.
We made a quick stop to the Science Museum yesterday. I don't go very often (every seven years or so) but when I go I always make it a point to find Kuma. Kuma was a polar bear that lived at the Como Zoo in the 70's. One night a group of teenagers broke into the zoo after hours and beat her to death with a pipe and rocks. They had her stuffed and donated her to the science museum. She's been there since 1979. Despite being absolutely phobic of taxidermy animals, I have a strange fondness for Kuma. You can read the news story about it from the New York Times paper here.
I had the kids go through the brooder today and separate out any birds without an ID band. The ones with ID bands are staying, the ones without ID bands are for sale. We have five chicks for sale right now. Four are about a week old, and one is a week older than them. All are black and white, though one is almost more of a really dark brown color. They are $3 each.
I also got the confirmation email that the guineas will ship June 26th. Yay!
