Take a chance, try some mystery pumpkin seeds and see what grows! These made delicious pumpkin pie, and diced up they made a good addition to salads as well. These also had excellent storage ability holding for several months in our warm house. I imagine they'd store even better in a cooler area (root cellar, cool basement, etc.). There again, these seeds were open pollinated, so no guarantees on what color, shape, texture, or store-ability you may find with what you grow. That's the joy of mystery seeds! You have to wait while it grows to see what you get at the end of the season!
Originally sourced from a local gardener at a seed swap, labeled only as "Blue #2" we planted two seeds, got one plant, and raised it organically. The plant quickly took over the entire front yard, weaving around the garden, past the nearby tree, across the walkway and down toward the road. It produced several full sized pumpkins in our short growing season, and many more that weren't ripe yet come first frost. I'm sure it would produce heavier yields in a longer growing season.
The pumpkins we got were round and squat waxy orange colored with peach colored streaks throughout, (not blue). They are open pollinated and are likely crossed to whatever we grew that year (Table Queen Acorn Squash, Fordhook Zucchini, Spaghetti Squash, and Delicata Squash). We are offering a limited quantity of the seeds we saved from our 2015 garden.
These seeds will produce open pollinated seeds - so you may not get the same type of pumpkin squash we got (remember the seeds we planted came from a blue pumpkin). It will be a fun mystery squash to see what you grow! Take a chance, try some mystery pumpkin seeds and see what grows! *Please note on all seed orders - the seeds are free. The price reflects our time to count out seeds and package them, packaging and labeling, and postage.
