I love to take photos. I take photos of everything and anything - sometimes important things, sometimes trivial and unimportant things. I love taking photos. That said, I keep my photos largely to myself.
I have a good friend who also loves to take photos. She's got some very nice photos in her portfolio. I highly recommend everyone to check out her Facebook page. Like it! Share it! Let other people know that she's here! As you may remember, we have two cats, Henry and Mabel. They were purchased with the intent to breed them to produce a sphynx cat with Rex coat to be a truly anti-allergy cat. Anyway, despite Mabel going into heat and Henry taking interest, we've only had one litter. To find out which cat is "not doing their part" we decided a science experiment was in order. We have adopted a new little girl. Mocha is a normal mixed breed kitten, born around the Fourth of July. When she gets older, the plan is to let her breed with Henry twice. If she doesn't have kittens, then we know the problem is with Henry. If she has kittens, the problem is obviously Mabel. So, welcome to the family Mocha! All of the bell peppers on this plant came out pointed like this one. The seeds came from a store bought red pepper (see how it's just turning red now) - I'm wondering if the seeds didn't come from some kind of spicy pepper crossing to make them pointed? We will find out when we eat this one (once it's bigger and all red). Ordered the seeds for this one from eBay... Purple Fairy - it's supposed to be a bright vibrant purple. The plant produced two, but slugs got the first one. They started on this one - not sure if it'll make it until it changes colors. This is the only tomato variety that seems to be greatly effected by slugs. This is the surprise tomato. When planting the peppers into containers from the seedling tray this random tomato popped up. I didn't plant it, it must have been in the dirt I bought - but I figured I'd leave it alone and see how it did. It's got two tomatoes! They're kind of pointed like the Roma plant was, but with much fewer branches. It's like this tiny plant put all of its energy into making a couple fruits instead of growing its branches. This spring #2 planted the "butt" of celery that we had already cut up. We had tried it in the house but it went bad so we figured - nothing to lose trying it outside, right? Turns out it's growing pretty well. We haven't watered it or cared for it at all. We do have to mow around it though as it's in the lawn beside the raspberry bush. Yesterday I picked the last of the Rideau Sweet tomatoes. There are a handful of other varieties that are "in progress" if they can avoid the bugs. One of the Purple Fairy tomatoes was almost ready and the bugs got to it. Yesterday was also the first day of at home schooling for #1 and #2. Yesterday I struggled to get #1 on board with schooling from home, and today it's #2 who's having a melt down. Hopefully next week when #3 and #4 start regular school and are out of the house, the home schooling will go a bit better. The Rideau Sweet tomato has produced a third tomato (with one more green still on the plant). There are green tomatoes on the Sekai Ichi, Cherokee Purple, Lemon Drop and one other that aren't ready yet. The peppers are getting bigger and one is coming up purple/brown! Very neat! The seeds from the last tomato got thrown away, they were small and didn't look mature. I'll see what this tomato has inside and hopefully get some seeds for next year. The Rideau Sweet tomato plant produced a second tomato (two more still ripening). This one was slightly more acidic, less flavorful and the skin was thinner than the first (from the same plant). Also, the seeds in this one were not developed, so I don't think they'll be seeds I can save and replant. It was a good little bite though! |
