I went ahead and signed up the kids to show rabbits at the fair. We will have a grand total of fourteen rabbits at the Crow Wing County Fair this year. Those headed to the show barn include Cinder, Elizabeth, Cuddles, Alice, Caduci Mook, George, Lola, Bennett, Penelope, Sushi, Jack Frost, and three of Penelope's babies (Fern, Firefly, and Fedora).
Elsa and Snowflake will be staying home with unweaned babies, and Tellurium missed the minimum weight requirement by about half a pound. All of the weaned babies from Cuddles, Elizabeth, Lola, and Penelope's litters will still be available for sale. The ones going to the show from Penelope's litter will be ready for new homes after the fair. They are on hold until after the fair (fair rules state no sales during or at the fair). Fern is already spoken for, but Fedora and Firefly will be available again on 8/8 or after.
The kids are really excited about showing their bunnies. For them the excitement of getting a ribbon is by far more valuable than any prize money. A few years ago #3 showed her angora bunny and took both the blue (1st) and the purple (Grand Champion) ribbons for her breed. She was grinning from ear to ear for weeks.
