Today I picked 24 ripe tomatoes off of the Gold Nugget tomato plant we bought at Costco. Two were split already, so the bunnies got them, but it's nice to have some tomatoes to harvest while the winter sown plants struggle to get big enough to produce.
I returned to the farmers market today in hopes of getting a dozen eggs, and possibly some more of those delicious peas the kids devoured last week. Unfortunately, week two was the same as week one. While I bought some fresh vegetables (potatoes, carrots, cucumbers, corn, and green beans), I was unable to track down the things I had actually come to buy. I wonder why I'm not finding fresh eggs at the farmers market. But it wasn't all bad. When I got home and checked the big raised bed in front I discovered that the Tom Thumb peas had eleven pods ready to pick! They were all gone within an hour. Did I mention the kids love garden fresh peas and beans?
Snowflake is pulling fur, so we should have babies tomorrow!
