I'm thankful for the free meal that we can turn into two meals and a snack (apples, bananas, oranges, and muffins can become an after school snack or afternoon snack, leftover waffles or oatmeal packets or re-heated sausage can make a small lunch). It really helps to cut down on expenses.
It's getting harder to get home to do cat and rabbit chores with Tony set to work an 8 day stretch, and I don't drive. Tonight Tony didn't get out of work until 11pm, then he had to come to the hotel to switch clothes, run back to the house to do the animal chores, and then come back to the hotel to eat something really quick before going to bed so he can go back to work by 7am. Still no word from the insurance agent about getting someone in the house to clean it up, and the longer we wait, the more I worry about the toxic odors ruining the rest of the house (and the danger it poses to my cats).
The real estate agent called today. The sellers do not want to pay to replace the roof in case our offer doesn't go through. Tony asked to re-submit a request to see if they would just spot repair it, or if they'd like to negotiate on the price. He said it would cost us about $2000 to put a steel roof on it, which doesn't require taking off the existing shingles. It's not in the budget right now, but it's not something we would have to rule out if a patch job can get us through until next year's taxes and work bonuses come in. And a steel roof would give us a price break on something (was it insurance or taxes?).
Biggest accomplishment of the day - I gave the dog his monthly bath.
