I thought I had to do a 24 hour clear liquid diet last time I had surgery, but this time they're telling me it's a two day deal. Tomorrow I will have my last solid food and then it's juice and broth all weekend. Surgery Monday and anticipated discharge from the hospital on Tuesday.
I told the ladies at the appointment today how anxious I am about the epidural/spinal for the surgery and they tried to assure me that I would be numbed prior and that they'd put a note in to give me a sedative via IV before hand, but I'm still scared of the pain and the side effects of that particular portion of the procedure.
If I miss a few days blogging post-surgery, I apologize. I'm sure they'll have me on some pretty strong pain meds and I will probably be sleeping a lot.
Tomorrow #3 will be coming home after school. It'll be nice to have her back and I'm sure she will have all kinds of fun stories to tell us. Tonight #5 was getting ready for bed and told me he misses his sister and is happy she will be returning tomorrow.
Today is "Read in the Bathtub" day, so to celebrate I grabbed a book off the bookshelf and committed myself to a bedtime soak. My tummy was hurting and not getting any better, so I was going to take a bath anyway, but the book was an added bonus. I'm now 74 pages into Witch & Wizard by James Patterson. Not a bad read, but definitely aimed toward younger readers. I could see my 11-year-old enjoying this book. If I don't finish it this weekend, perhaps I'll bring it along for my overnight at the hospital.
