As of today, all three litters of baby bunnies are old enough to find new homes! Now if I could just get some nice updated photos and get a better idea of their personalities. It's so much harder when we're only there long enough to do chores and handle them minimally. I miss being able to play with them for hours on end and observe them throughout the day. We are set to have two more litters in two weeks. I had hoped we'd be moved by then. Once again I find myself thinking - I can't wait to move!
We were back out at the house about 10am and I shoveled everything out from under the two cages by the house while Tony fed and watered everyone. The cages hadn't been completely shoveled out since last summer (they're several feet up off the ground), so it was kind of neat (probably gross to most people) to see the layers come up. Fresher manure up top, then a little more composted, then a layer of straw (from over winter), and under that a layer just thick with worms doing their jobs, and the bottom-most layer was the best compost on the planet. Fully composted rabbit manure. All together it filled eight bags! Phew! It took me a little while, and I'm a little sore, but now we have eight bags of manure that we can either sell or bring to the new house to help jump start the new gardens. And it's less work we will have when it's time to move the rabbits and clean up after them. Best of all, the neighbor can't complain anymore (or if she does, the animal control officer will have no problems with our set up) until we can get moved. I was bored today so I got out the colored pencils and the coloring book again. I did two today. One of a flower and one with two flamingos. My appreciation to the folks who draw the coloring pages because it's certainly not my coloring skills that are making these look nice. Tony works close again tonight, so it looks like another pizza night for us. We're all getting sick of eating out. We miss home cooked meals... fresh vegetables and my chicken bake dish... I'd even settle for a crock pot mash up with random ingredients at this point.
