We also opened the barn up today to let Josh, Leonardo, and Tweak out for the first time.I admit, I was scared they'd leave and never come back. But alas, they are farm birds and can't live in the barn indefinitely. Much to my surprise, they weren't initially interested in leaving. The gate was open, but they continued to act as though the gate were still up. Eventually Tweak and Leonardo chased Josh out of the barn. It was beautiful. As soon as he got out of the shadow of the barn he stopped and looked around. They wandered around the side of the bunny barn, around behind it, and back up to the front.
Since the birds were out and about and the gate was down, we let Gypsy out of the barn too. She explored the container garden, played on the pieces of the play set in the yard, and followed us around the yard near the barn. She's tiny, but full of energy. She loves to snuggle and she plays hard. She stalks leaves and feathers, bats at hay and pounces on old black walnut shells. When I put her food down on the ground while she's running loose, she will come back to sit on my foot here and there, almost as if she's just making sure I'm still nearby.
