The Vikings are doing well. Lagertha has started to initiate play, while Floki hasn't quite gotten the idea yet. Mabel continues to be a little neurotic, moving kittens whenever the kids stress her out a little too much. I've found that laying on the couch, holding the kittens for a while tends to calm her down, particularly if the kids leave the room for several minutes.
Today I harvested another 11 leaves (1.46 oz) from the two remaining Green Star lettuce plants. It doesn't sound like much, but some of these were monster leaves, some six and seven inches long! I know, I'm new to this, so I'm pretty sure seasoned gardeners are going to look at this and cringe. But seriously, I'm really proud of growing my own lettuce and being able to grab a salad on a whim.
The Chester Thornless blackberry plant is looking fantastic. It's grown so many new leaves and stems that it's now tipping over out of the container!
